The Commission services, responsible for research on social sciences and humanities, in close collaboration with the project co-ordinating team, are organising a Workshop aiming at debating with invited key actors the main findings of a cluster activity on "Labour, Organisation and Competence in National Innovation Systems".
Drawing out the lessons of TSER Programme and the Key Action on socio-economic research, this activity brings together several projects in these related fields from the TSER and Key Action. By providing a better understanding of how changes in organisation, working life and jobs interact, Loc Nis seeks first to improve citizens' ability to cope with different new trends (globalisation, information technology, rapid innovation) that affect various aspects of their lives. Secondly, the project aims to create a knowledge base enabling policy makers to take valid decisions. Policymaking has become compartmentalised into such specialised areas as social policy, labour market policy, and innovation policy. Loc Nis aims to minimise the risks of such specialisation by identifying important couplings between policy areas.
This Workshop aims to stimulate the efficient use of the knowledge produced in individual socio-economic projects. It will bring together three different categories of participants:
- Experts on human resource development and innovation management coming from SMEs and multinational firms;
- Policy makers in charge of education, labour market, research and innovation policy at the national and European levels; and
- Representatives of citizen groups and social partners.
The discussion should encompass a common vision of the major challenges for Europe while, at the same time, specifying the most important systemic differences between member states regarding competence building and innovation. It should also give direction for future socio-economic research by pointing to the most promising fields of research and to areas where the knowledge base is weakly developed
Participation at this Workshop is restricted to a list of invitees.
The Proceedings of the Workshop will be published during the current year.
