The Commission has subsidised a series of 13 mobilisation seminars from 1994, soon after the first communication on "Cohesion and research policy: synergies between research and technology development policy and cohesion policy" (COM(93)203, 12/05/93). The seminars were directed at key actors involved in RTD and Innovation policies and regional policies at all levels (local, regional, national and European). These seminars have greatly contributed to raising Less Favoured Regions' awareness of the importance of RTD and Innovation for their economic and social development.
