Local and regional authorities are at the heart of the integrated RDT & Innovation (RTDI) strategy proposed in the 1998 Commission Communication on "
Reinforcing cohesion and competitiveness through research, technology development and innovation
", (COM(98)275, 27/05/98). The European Commission urges them to elaborate development strategies that ensure RTDI interventions are fully linked to the productive fabric of the regions and are, via the national RTDI systems, integrated into the wider European perspective.
As you can see from the list of links below, most of the European regions already have a presence on the Internet, reflecting their real presence as essential partners in the development process. Some regional and local authorities are already well advanced in the development of integrated RTDI strategies. This page is a real opportunity for those who are lagging behind to pick up ideas and establish contacts with the more advanced ones.
Furthermore, conurbations, cities, villages and rural areas are also present on the Web. Although we cannot offer an access to every existing site, we will be glad to establish links with the most interesting experiments dealing with RTD and Innovation at urban or rural level.
