COST Transport Publications COST 336 Falling weight deflectometerFinite Element Dynamic Analysis of Falling Weight Deflection Measurements
Manuscript completed October 1997 1997 - 36 pp - 21.0 x 29.7 cm
This report forms part of the falling weight deflectometer (FWD) calibration work, and presents the results of a study on the dynamic effect of the load pulse of the FWD on the response of the pavement structure and the peak values of the generated deflection basin. Use of FWD testing is a growing requirement in modern pavement maintenance and rehabilitation management. It has already been implemented as a routine procedure in some European countries and, in others, as equipment used in research or special investigations. The study is one of several significant steps which have been identified in order to develop more appropriate FWD calibration procedures. The final results will be included in the COST 336 Final Report.
Use of Falling Weight Deflectometers at Network Level – Information Gathering Report
Manuscript completed in February 1998 1998 – 65pp – 21.0 x 29.7 cm Word file for download (314 KB) Compressed Word file for download (108 KB)
This report covers the information gathering carried out under Task 2 (Use of Falling Weight Deflectometers at Network Level). The exercise involved:
- a literature survey.
- a review of information from associated COST Actions.
- the operation of a dedicated workshop held in Lisbon in June 1997.
- using the personal experience of the COST 336 members.
The information gathered during the task work will form the baseline for decision making in the preparation of the Network Level Guide.
