CRIS - The nutcracker
There exists a wealth of research and technological information of potentially great benefit to European industry. But first you have to know how to get at it. Research information systems are the nutcrackers that offer industry rapid and easy access to this resources.
How current research information systems (CRIS) can be exploited by industry and improve Europe’s competitiveness is the focus of the CRIS’ 98 conference will bring together organizations providing research information in Europe, in order to examine how to open these resources to wider use and increase the exploration of the information which they contain.
Keynote speeches look at the costs and returns of the development of research information systems, and their role in the Information Society.
Parallel sessions examine research information systems from two angles:
- Marketing and exploration.
- Promotion and dissemination.
CRIS’ 98 includes ongoing demonstrations of applications and services relating to research information systems.
There is also a Cybercafé where participants can try out existing services and new developments.
