Research Information System at Czech Universities.

Parallel Session A.2 and Demonstration

There is long and successful tradition of collaboration of Czech HEIs with end-users of research information, interrupted by known historical events between 1939 and 1989.

Today our Universities are facing two important tasks, both of them influencing its future:

  • how to make its research more market driven,
  • how to disseminate efficiently the research information.
The fundamental role in this is to be played by the proposed information system.
The paper deals step-by-step with the building of the System, addressing following issues:
  1. specification of the role of the system,
  2. conditions favourable to build such a system,
  3. conditions unfavourable to build such a system,
  4. the practical steps towards the efficient work of the system,
  5. looking ahead.
The solution offered can be attractive especially for CEE countries, for its low investment and/or operation costs.
