RIGHTS TRADING BETWEEN DIGITAL CONTENT MARKET PLAYERS
Rights trading is the basis for creating products mixing text, images and sound. The effectiveness and efficiency of the multimedia rights clearance have a strong and direct impact on the functioning of the content industries. The integration and interoperation of distributed specialised clearance services at European level has been object of attention under INFO2000 through feasibility studies, prototype, standards and pilot system development.
Further support is needed within the framework of the eContent programme to arrive at a consistent European rights clearance approach taking account of the current legal framework and its further development. The clearance function is expected to remain a fundamental function in a quickly evolving environment of changing business, legal, enforcement, financial and informational models supporting this fundamental function.
