Helping all sectors of industry exploit the opportunities offered by advanced computing and networking systems
Objectives: The objective of the High-Performance Computing and Networking (HPCN) domain is to help all sectors of industry exploit the opportunities offered by advanced computing and networking systems to add higher levels of intelligence, reach larger throughputs or ensure shorter response times in their products, processes or services. Detailed objectives in the ESPRIT HPCN workprogramme
R&D Activities: Projects are expected to undertake R&D as identified by applications requirements and with the objective of supporting the transition to an operational environment and to the industrialisation of results. Download synopses in all formats.
Preparatory, Support and Transfer Activities: The objectives are to complement R&D projects to enhance the take-up of HPCN solutions in industry and in particular in SME's. Activities include awareness creation, assessment of solutions, demonstration of successful applications and establishment of best practice industry. The activities are coordinated by the HPCN TTN Network started in March 1997. It consists of 21 Technology Transfer Nodes across Europe with 181 funded activities.
