Image Industrial Advisory Panels: 1996 Report

SOME BACKGROUND: Esprit takes as its starting point the needs of users and the market, and puts particular emphasis on best practice and the use of and access to IT within the context of the Information Society.

Industrial Advisory Panels were set up in 1996 on the advice of national representatives of the programme's IT Committee. Drawing their members from a broad range of European industry that might be affected by the information revolution, they have helped orient priorities for the annually revised work-programme. Each panel had about 20 members.

At the mid-point of the programme, advice was also sought on planning the Fifth Framework Programme.

The task of each panel was to examine and discuss how industry can meet the challenges of competitiveness. Inputs from the panels are being used:
