What is it?

................................................................................................................................................................................................

Who can take part?

On the R&D side, any consortium consisting of some or all of the participants in an ongoing IT R&D project plus any additional members necessary; on the trainee side, anyone who satisfies the profile the consortium is looking for and whose involvement in the scheme would contribute to the development of their career.

................................................................................................................................................................................................

Who can apply?

Applications for funding must be made by consortia. A consortium draws up a proposal for a detailed training scheme and submits this via its coordinating partner to the Commission. This can be done at any time up until 15 February 1996. The Commission arranges for independent outside experts to evaluate the proposals received and selects and awards contracts on the basis of their findings. Contract funding covers a trainee's salary and additional costs directly incurred by running the training scheme.

................................................................................................................................................................................................

What should a proposal cover?

A consortium's proposal must include the objectives of the training, its industrial relevance, the benefits to the trainee and the consortium, and a precise training and management plan. Full details are available from the contact point given below.

................................................................................................................................................................................................

How should a consortium select a potential trainee?

A consortium is responsible for selecting a trainee according to an open and fair procedure acceptable to the Commission. Trainees must have an appropriate background and their training should make a clear contribution to their career development.
