ETAN: a service to researchers and policy-makers
| Ultimately, ETAN activities will help S&T policy makers and other stakeholders at EU and national levels to develop a shared understanding of the issues and policy options of common interest and thereby facilitate, where appropriate, the development of more consistent, concerted and complementary Community and national S&T policies. |
ETAN focuses primarily on European S&T policy issues. The links between S&T policy and other policies (e.g. energy, environment, health, etc.) are taken into account when this is necessary in order to frame S&T policy issues and options.
ETAN does not fund socio-economic research. It seeks to make the best use of the results of such research for the benefits of S&T policy-makers at national and EU levels.
By promoting communication and interaction between the producers and users of expertise and knowledge, ETAN provides a service
- to researchers, as:
-
- a transnational means to review, compare and consolidate research results;
- a forum for discussion with S&T policy makers, whereby they can obtain a feedback on further research needs; and
- to S&T policy makers and other stakeholders/users of socio-economic research at EU and national levels, as:
-
- an appropriate means of accessing expertise and knowledge required for informed decision making.
