The following provides an overview of the ETAN working method during the pilot phase.
- For each topic, an expert working group is formed, drawn from the ETAN membership list, with the task to review, synthesise and consolidate available knowledge and expertise into an ETAN "issues and options" working paper. The process involves a series of workshops. Members of the working group are encouraged to seek inputs from other experts, who may also be invited when appropriate to participate in one of the workshops or to review and comment on the draft working paper.
- After completion of the working paper, ETAN organises a seminar bringing together experts and S&T policy makers and other stakeholders to discuss issues addressed in the working paper.
- For each topic, the results of the seminar together with the ETAN working paper forms the basis of an ETAN report which is published by the European Commission. These reports will be made available in the CORDIS Document Library.
In some cases, when the topic warrants it, ETAN conferences or national seminars may be organised.
