Behind the Hype of Nanotechnology
Nanotechnology - defined in one dictionary as the engineering of matter at a scale approaching that of individual atoms - suffers from inflated expectations, according to a survey from the EC's Institute for Prospective Technological Studies.

Competing for Credibility
Of the triangle of concepts made famous by Jacques Delors' famous white paper - growth, employment, competitiveness - it is the latter which is the most ethereal. It is a perpetual riddle for policy-makers whether the three desiderata are contradictory. The OECD has set out some data on which judgements can start to be made.
