International Congress: Transforming Care 2015

This event explores the innovative use of digital technologies to enable better citizen and patient centred care provision through innovations in digital health care technologies, training and support services. It will challenge existing practices to redefine health, wellbeing and care systems, to tackle social exclusion and health inequalities as well as drive economic growth.

24 Februar 2015 - 24 Februar 2015
United Kingdom
Europe’s population is ageing rapidly, with 20% of Europeans expected to be aged 65 or over by 2025 (EU Commission 2012). This will mean increasing demands for care services in the coming decades, most of which will be provided in the home by families and paid care workers. Most people agree that new technologies have a role to play in supporting independent living for greater numbers of older people in the future. To date, the attention has focused largely on telehealth and telecare and the use of devices such as personal alarms and health and monitoring equipment to raise alerts and monitor vital signs such as blood pressure and blood glucose levels. Less attention has been given to the use of technology to support carers (formal and informal) and how online services and support can be made more relevant and useful to those with care responsibilities.

Through high profile keynotes, interactive poster, presentation and discussion sessions coupled with real practical applications delegates will gain a greater understanding of the role of digital solutions, and innovative approaches to enhancing care provision and support services for carers now and into the future. The event will facilitate greater collaboration and networking bringing together a cross sector of industry, business, academia and public and third sectors.

Opportunities for Participation

We are also inviting short position papers and poster proposals describing initiatives undertaken to advance the use of digital technologies to support care provision and services including training in the following categories:

1. Skills for Home Care covering needs of professional care workers and carers (family, friends, relatives) and use of technologies to support provision of care

2. Connected Care – supporting independence and active ageing; improving systems to provide information, advice and support and use of data and user centred interfaces to aid decision making and tailored healthcare solutions.

In addition there are a small number of spaces available as part of the digital showcase, which invites organisations and SMEs to demonstrate novel and innovative solutions in the field of healthcare.
