'Microbiome-based Foods for Health and Sustainability' workshop, 23 February, Brussels

How can microbiomes contribute to improving health, drive food production, and support more sustainable agriculture? These are the questions that will shape the discussion at the workshop held on 23rd February 2016 at the Thon Hotel EU in Brussels, hosted by the APC Microbiome Institute, University College Cork, Ireland.

23 February 2016 - 23 February 2016
Belgium
The workshop will examine the effects of dietary and lifestyle choices on food demands and the challenges faced by production systems (from farm to fork) in relation to food nutritional security and sustainability.

Furthermore, the role of the microbiome and its associated transformative technologies (e.g. metagenomics, data analytics) in each stage of food value chain will be highlighted, as well as their potential to boost innovation whilst delivering societal and economic impact for Europe.

The event will bring together the research community, academia, industry, and policy- and decision-makers, who will focus on different aspects of microbiomes in relation to improving health, driving forward food production, and supporting more sustainable agriculture.
