Commission grants ECU 850,000 to support German SMEs
The European Commission is to provide ECU 850,000 to support the adjustment of small and medium-sized enterprises in Baden-Württemberg, Germany, to the conditions of the single market. The total volume of the aid programme is ECU 1.83 million, of which ECU 0.85 million (46%) comes from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). The remainder will come from the German private sector, the chambers of trade and industry and the chambers of craft trades. The programme is designed to promote businesses in the structurally-weak rural areas (Objective 5b) of Baden-Württemberg, in the districts of Hohenlohekreis, Schwabisch Hall, Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald, Lorrach Waldshut, Alb-Donau-Kreis, Biberach and Sigmaringen. The aim of the programme is to introduce a comprehensive quality management scheme in line with DIN/ISO quality standards, since quality management and certification is proving to be an increasingly crucial factor in the competitiveness and innovative strength of SMEs.
