The Association Council of the European Communities and the Slovak Republic has adopted a Decision setting out the terms and conditions for the participation of the Slovak Republic in Community programmes in the fields of training, education and youth. The programmes concerned are LEONARDO DA VINCI, SOCRATES and Youth for Europe, and the Decision will apply until the expiry of these programmes in December 1999. Young people from the Slovak Republic will be able to participate in these programmes on essentially the same terms and conditions as citizens of EU Member States. However, in order to ensure a Community dimension to the activities supported by these programmes, a minimum number of partners from EU Member States will be required. The Decision also lays down the financial contributions to be made by the Slovak Republic to the programmes' budgets. These contributions will be as follows: - LEONARDO DA VINCI: ECU 2.14 million per year from 1997; - SOCRATES: ECU 940,000 in 1997, and ECU 2.14 million in 1998 and 1999; - Youth for Europe: ECU 270,000 in 1997, ECU 464,000 in 1998 and ECU 702,000 in 1999. The Decision enters into force on 1 April 1998.
