The European Commission, DG XIII, has recently published a second edition of its catalogue of Environment sector projects supported under the Telematics Applications programme. This catalogue provides an overview of the objectives, validation sites and the expected benefits of some 26 projects. It also provides details of contacts, and the time frame for each project. In addition to these projects, it also gives brief details of new environment projects, launched following the fourth Telematics Applications programme call in April 1997, and information on completed projects. The projects described in the catalogue fall into several categories: - Air quality and emissions; - Water and land resources; - Emergency management and warning; - Generic tools and information bases; The overall aim of the Telematics for the Environment sector is to demonstrate the usefulness of telematics solutions for protecting and improving the environment. It is hoped that with the wide dissemination of this report, interested parties who may want to cooperate in a project or who are interested in the results can obtain the information they require.
