The European Organization for the Safety of Air Navigation (Eurocontrol) has published a prior information notice for a tender relating to the development of a programme for air-traffic management systems. The aim of this programme would be to: - Develop specifications for common components of flight data processing systems (FDPS), which satisfy operational requirements developed in the context of the European air traffic control harmonization and integration programme (EATCHIP), and allow for enhancements to satisfy the needs of the future uniform European air traffic management systems; - Implement, integrate and test operational FDPSs according to these specifications at the following sites: Eurocontrol Upper Area Control Centre located at Maastricht (The Netherlands), and air-traffic control centres in the United Kingdom and France. Other sites in other European states may be included before the call for tender is published; - Ensure that the common components will be reusable for FDPSs in all Eurocontrol member states. The partners in the programme, namely Eurocontrol and the air-traffic management organizations of the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Spain and Italy, will undertake a pre-qualification activity which will identify those companies capable of acting as prime contractors for all or part of the planned developments. As mentioned in the previous announcement (OJ No S 241 of 11.12.1997 ref. 155364), the call for tender is planned to be published before the end of 1998. The pre-qualification activity will be launched in July 1998 and is expected to be concluded before October 1998. A call for expressions of interest will be published in July 1998 by Eurocontrol and a workshop for industry is planned for 30 July 1998 at the Eurocontrol headquarters in Brussels. Invitations to the workshop will be sent to those companies who have expressed an interest in the programme, either by attending the first EFDP industrial workshop in July 1997, or by responding to this announcement or to the original announcement. For invitations to the workshop and information on this call for expressions of interest, please contact: Eurocontrol Division DED 2 Mr Andrew Hill rue de la Fusée 96 B-1130 Brussels Tel. +32-2-7294779; Fax +32-2-7293587 E-mail: andrew.hill@eurocontrol.be
