The European Commission, DG X, has published a call for proposals, under the priority information campaign "Building Europe together", which forms part of the information programme for European citizens (PRINCE). This call for proposals is addressed to European organizations, active in ways which could contribute to the "Building Europe together" campaign. The submission of plans for information and communication schemes, which will fit into the second phase of this campaign, is now invited. Schemes to be supported must involve developing one or more communication initiative, to be launched between 1 November 1998 and 31 March 1999 and ending before 30 June 1999. Typically, schemes should display the following features: - Provide a factual explanation of the Treaty of Amsterdam and its significance; - Be capable of implementation in one or more Member States; - Foster dialogue and action to bring Europe closer to its citizens; - Be non-profit making; - Involve the Commission Representations in the Member States where the scheme is run; - Involve national, regional or local authorities, and must seek the active participation of Members of the European Parliament. Priority will be given to projects which: - Have as their priority target audience women and young people; - Secure the widest possible media coverage; - Involve a promoter with several partners.
