EU support for telematics for libraries research (1990-1998)
Information on EU-supported research activities in the field of telematics for libraries for the period 1990-1998 has just been published by the European Commission. The statistics provided in the report cover both the Libraries programme under the Third RTD Framework Programme (1990-1994) and the Libraries sector of the Telematics Applications programme within the Fourth RTD Framework Programme (1994-1998). The Commission presents indicators of the scope of activities under these programmes since 1990, including statistics of proposals received or evaluated, the projects co-funded, as well as concerted actions and accompanying measures supported. Figures are given for both participants in the proposals and in the projects which received support. This includes information on the individual organisations represented, as organisations have, in many cases, participated in several proposals and/or projects. The document is structured in three parts, including global statistics covering libraries activities within both programmes, and separate sections dedicated to each programme. A total of five calls for proposals were launched within these programmes, and these received a total of 520 responses, involving 3,023 participants. One hundred of these were selected for funding, involving a total of 624 participants, representing 431 individual organizations.
