Road accidents are responsible for thousands of deaths and injuries across the European Union every year. To encourage authorities and governments in Europe to learn from the factors which cause accidents, the European Commission established the CARE database in 1993. This database contains disaggregated data on individual road accidents, collected by the Member States, therefore maximising the possibilities for analysis of the data. The Commission has published an invitation to tender for a contractor to undertake development and maintenance work on the CARE database for the next three years. Tender documents may be obtained on request by fax to: European Commission DG VII - Transport Mr. Luc Werring Unit B/3 200 rue de la Loi B-1049 Brussels Fax +32-2-2965196
