The European Commission, DG XIII, has published an invitation to tender for a study providing an overview of technology trends and future perspectives within assistive technologies. The study will explore new technology applications for the socio-economic integration of disabled and elderly people. It should be based on present state-of-the-art technology edges, such as virtual reality, multimedia, satellite/mobile systems and signal processing applications. Missions in Europe, the USA and Japan will provide information on technological trends and applications for elderly and disabled people, such as artificial vision, advanced prostheses and artificial intelligence as support for daily life.
