The Joint Research Centre of the European Commission, has published an invitation to tender for a study to assess the products and services resulting from the activities of the Centre for Earth Observation (CEO) programme for the development and promotion of the use of earth observation data from space. The CEO programme aims to stimulate the market for earth observation products by bringing customers and service providers closer together. The purpose of the study would be to review all the activities of the CEO. Three particular tasks are set: - The production of a comprehensive inventory of the products and services, the provision of detailed specifications of these in a common format and the identification of associated customer requirements and customer segment information; - The qualitative evaluation of both proven and developmental products, both in terms of customer satisfaction and technical ability and robustness; - The determination, based on technical criteria and market demand, of which products and services have a high priority for further development funding and to produce a plan for the work advocated. The results of this work will assist in formulating the work activities for the CEO programme during the upcoming Fifth RTD Framework programme. The work is to be undertaken between 1 November 1998 and 30 April 1999.
