The European Commission, DG VII, has published an invitation to tender for a study identifying priorities for the further development of the trans-European network (TENs), based on the concept of "added-value" for the Community as a whole (as opposed to the individual and specific interests of each Member State). Within the framework of the TENs guidelines, the study should identify major links and nodes which are particularly important for the interconnection of national transport networks and for the development of intermodal transport. The study should be based on existing data on traffic flow, type of traffic, as well as on other criteria to be developed. The study should also pay particular attention to links between the TENs and the transport networks of Central and Eastern Europe, taking into account the work undertaken for the Commission in the framework of the Transport Infrastructure Needs Assessment (TINA). The study should also include an evaluation of existing traffic statistics and forecasts for the TEN. For further information, please contact: European Commission DG VII - Transport Unit A.2 Mr. J.
