In support of the implementation of the Pressure Equipment Directive (97/23/EC), the European Commission is seeking an organisation to conduct a study of fatigue design in pressure components. The study should provide a sound basis for orienting future actions in support of the Directive and the development of harmonised standards. The study should provide a clear picture of: - Current practices in fatigue design; - Problem areas; - Scope for improvement via better application of existing R&D know-how in techniques, data and materials. The results are intended to form a basis for directing future actions to improve the international competitiveness of the European pressure equipment industry. Emphasis should be on measures which will have an impact across the widest possible spectrum of manufacturers in terms of size, technologies and service requirements. The study should be completed within 24 months. Tender specifications may be obtained on written request from: European Commission DG III - Industry Mr J.
