In order to obtain coherent information on the development of the European road vehicle fleet, in view of the development of EU transport policy, the Commission is seeking an organisation to conduct a study of the European road vehicle stock. The study should collect data on important parameters of the European road vehicle stock from 1970 to 1997, and make projections up to 2010 for the EU and Central and Eastern European countries. The data to be covered are vehicle stock, vehicle-km, passenger-km, fuel consumption and others. The contractor will be responsible for collecting available data and estimating missing data in order to provide consistent time series. The study should be completed within eight months.
