Information on a research action on procedures for assessing highway structures, undertaken within the European scientific and technical cooperation (COST) initiative, is now available on the CORDIS Website. The research, which will run for a duration of three years, aims to identify the procedures required for assessing highway structures. The action will identify the procedures and documentation required to inspect and assess the condition of in-service highway structures, such as bridges, earth retaining walls, tunnels and culverts. In addition, it aims to define the requirements for future research work, provide information on the stock of highway structures and identify those structures not amenable to simple numerical analysis. The information provided on the homepage includes a list of the 13 COST countries participating in the project, contact details for further information, the background to the project, expected deliverables, benefits to different users and related activities.
