The European Commission, DG X, has published a call for proposals relating to support for cooperation schemes between European audiovisual events and audiovisual festivals carried out in partnership. Projects will be supported within the framework of the MEDIA II programme for the development and distribution of European audiovisual works. This call for proposals is intended for bodies organising an audiovisual festival and/or a cooperation scheme between audiovisual events which will help attain the objectives of the MEDIA II programme. The projects should encourage the showing, promotion and distribution of European audiovisual works, to promote public familiarity with such works and to raise the profile of Europe's film heritage. Projects supporting the activities of networks of cooperation between audiovisual events should comprise a European dimension involving audiovisual events from at least eight Member States, or at least two associated countries and seven Member States. Proposals supporting audiovisual festivals carried out in partnership must involve festivals which belong to a European audiovisual network comprising operators from at least eight Member States or which are organised on the basis of collaboration on the technical and financial aspects between operators from at least four Member States. In the case of festivals of creative films, only festivals which plan to show at least 70% European works from at least six Member States will be considered.
