The European Commission, DG XI, has published an invitation to tender for a study on European packaging waste management systems. The aims of the study are as follows: - To make an assessment of the packaging waste management systems in each Member State and to establish a global picture for each of them; - To identify the managerial, technical and economic problems involved in packaging waste management systems in each Member State and to establish a global picture; - To analyse the foreseeable global evolution for each Member State, respecting the deadlines of the years 2006 and 2011. The study should be carried out in the context of European waste management policy and the contract tendered will last for a total of twelve months.
