The European Commission, DG XI, has published an invitation to tender for a study reviewing the existing and future requirements for decommissioning nuclear facilities in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). The study would involve: - Collection of available information on disused nuclear installations; - Production of generic data on decommissioning of VVER-440 reactors, RBMK reactors and VVR-M reactors; - In-depth analysis of selected installations and specification of technical conditions and requirements to realize safe enclosure or dismantling of installations. This action is in line with the Council Resolution of 18 June 1992 on the technological problems of nuclear safety. The study must be completed within 18 months from the date of signature of the contract.
