EUREKA, the European initiative for cooperation in research on advanced technologies, has published its first Annual Impact Report, detailing the results of projects. The Annual Impact Report stems from a desire to improve the analysis of projects funded by EUREKA and to maintain more coherent records of evaluations. Under the Belgian Chairmanship of EUREKA (June 1995 - June 1996), a new reporting process for projects has been implemented. This consists of two concise report forms, one a Final Report which concentrates on the socio-economic elements of the project results, and the other a Market Impact Report, sent regularly to participants following the conclusion of projects, to analyse the success of the commercial exploitation of the project results. The process also includes an automated process for continuous analysis of returned forms. As a result of this new process, the first Annual Impact Report has been published. This gives a detailed analysis of the information received from the reports returned from both industrial and non-industrial respondents. Information includes assessments of the benefits gained by the participants from EUREKA participation and of the commercial success of products developed with EUREKA funding.
