The JAMES (Joint ATM Experiment on European Services) project and the ACTS National Hosts Forum have announced that they are to increase cooperation with a view to helping projects in the advanced communications field to test and evaluate their technologies. The JAMES project, funded by the ACTS programme, aims at testing, evaluating and validating, in collaboration with project teams and national research networks, new ATM (asynchronous transfer mode) based, broadband services and applications throughout Europe. The ACTS National Hosts Forum brings together providers of telecommunications infrastructures in the Member States, which may be used to test out applications and services under development, in particular, within the ACTS programme. The new agreement between JAMES and the National Hosts aims to help project participants in assessing what infrastructure to use for their projects and, in particular, whether the JAMES network would be suitable. The National Hosts will offer independent advice to projects, including brokerage services, consultancy and technical advice.
