The call has been launched within the framework of the specific programmes in the fields of Non-nuclear Energy (JOULE/THERMIE) and International Cooperation (INCO). The Commission aims to conclude contracts with a number of individual external organizations or consortia that wish to act as Fellow Members to the OPET network (FEMOPETs) over part, one or several of the following countries: - Romania; - Bulgaria; - Czech Republic; - Hungary; - Poland; - Lithuania; - Latvia; - Estonia; - Slovenia; - Slovakia. The main objectives of the FEMOPET network are to foster market penetration of successful new and innovative European energy technologies, in particular stemming from projects under the JOULE/THERMIE programme, in the Central European countries; and to contribute to the opening of Central European countries' markets to wider European cooperation in energy RTD. The major tasks to be undertaken by the FEMOPETs, on a network basis, are as follows: - Collaboration with market operators and end-users for the implementation of sectoral promotion strategies of energy technologies and for other activities, including the provision of advice and assistance to define a global strategy; - Evaluation of technology requirements and identification of external technology suppliers; - Promotion of the results of energy projects and programmes, especially JOULE/THERMIE, together with targeted information retrieval and dissemination; - Provision of information to interested organizations in the Community on the energy RTD potential of organizations in the geographical area covered; - Coordination with specific activities undertaken pursuant to the JOULE/THERMIE programme; - Assistance to local companies in the absorption of new energy technologies and in energy technology transfer; - Dissemination of documentation and information about Community energy programmes and energy RTD related topics; - Utilization and, if necessary, updating of existing databases related to energy technologies, market actors and decision-makers in order to penetrate the market and match local requirements. Proposers should obtain a copy of the Information Package, which sets out in detail the actions to be undertaken. All correspondence (marked "FEMOPET network") should be sent to the following address: European Commission DG XVII - Energy Unit D/1 226 avenue de Tervuren (Office 5/001) B-1150 Brussels Fax +32-2-2966016
