The 1997 European Telework Awards were presented at a ceremony in Brussels on 7 November 1997, during the third European Telework Week. The aim of the awards matches the aims of the European Telework Week - to promote the understanding of telework and its considered implementation. A total of 56 organizations entered the contest, in five categories. Three nominees from each category had the chance to present their entry to the panel of judges at a session in Brussels on 7 November. The award-winners chosen in each category were as follows: - Contribution to competitiveness: . IBM Belgium-Luxembourg's Shared Office Implementation; - Original telework application: . ISDaC (Information Society Disabilities Challenge) European initiative; - Contribution to sustainability: . Rijkswaterstaat directorate from Northern Netherlands; - Technological contribution to sustainability: . Siemens AG/Private Networks of Austria; - Media coverage: . New "Teleworkx" magazine, from Germany. The 1998 European Telework Awards will be presented during the fourth European Telework Week, to be held in early November 1998.
