The CHANCE (Competence Building and Higher Awareness about Networking and Collaboration for Europe) project is a major European initiative aimed at collecting and disseminating best practice in inter-organizational technology collaboration. Funded by the Community's specific RTD programme in the field of Information Technologies (ESPRIT), the initiative brings together practitioners and academics from seven European countries. Within the framework of CHANCE, the recently launched CHANCE-OMI Initiative focuses on the identification of best collaborative practices within the Open Microprocessor Systems Initiative (OMI) - part of the ESPRIT programme. The CHANCE-OMI initiative has identified business practices for keeping collaborative ventures in OMI in line with their environment: the client requirements, the needs and action lines of parent organizations, the expectations of the European Commission and the strategies of complementary players. Collected best practices are incorporated in a broad range of CHANCE services including training, workshops, consultancy services and various support services (proposal writing, project management and exploitation support).
