The European Commission, DG XIII, has published an invitation to tender concerning access to skills in multimedia information professions. With global information networks becoming increasingly important in all sectors of society, there is a growing need to develop the skills necessary to take advantage of the new opportunities opened up. This invitation to tender will lead to the launch of an experimental action within EU and EFTA countries, aimed at: - Enabling young people and adults to be trained in specialized professions necessary to the information industries and the European economy; - Gaining social approval of this high-level training from citizens by way of discovery conferences which will enable each citizen to be provided with the fixed reference points they need for their private and professional life in the Information Society. The project comprises four phases: - Preparing the detailed teaching programme; - Carrying out the training syllabus and conference cycle; - Conducting a seminar and distributing the results; - Evaluation and final report. The contract should be completed within 24 months. The tender documents may be obtained from: European Commission DG XIII - Telecommunications, information market and exploitation of research Unit E/1 Invitation to tender - FORM-AMI rue Alcide de Gasperi (EUFO 1267) L-2920 Luxembourg Fax +352-430134079
