The European Commission has published a call for proposals for measures to help persons with Alzheimer's disease. The Community budget provides for the implementation of measures by the European Commission to help persons suffering from Alzheimer's disease and for those assisting them on a non-professional basis. The Commission therefore invites applications for financial assistance for limited-duration projects. The Community financial contribution to the projects selected may not exceed 70% of the total budget for the measure proposed. These projects will be aimed at promoting the dissemination of best practices and encouraging and supporting exchanges of information and experience. The areas which are the subject of proposals will cover: - The setting up of a network to exchange information between establishments treating Alzheimer's disease; - Measures intended to improve the dissemination of information and knowledge. The measures must be transnational (involving operators in at least two Member States and introducing Community added value). A budget of ECU 800,000 will be available for 1998. Application forms for financing may be obtained from: European Commission DG V - Employment, industrial relations and social affairs Promotion of health and monitoring of diseases unit Euroforum Building EUFO 3184 L-2920 Luxembourg Tel. +352-430132007; Fax +352-430132059
