The European Commission, DG XVII, has published the 1997 Activity Report for THERMIE, the demonstration component of the EU's Non-nuclear Energy research programme. THERMIE is focused on the cost-effective, environmentally-friendly and targeted demonstration and promotion of clean and efficient energy technologies. THERMIE activities help to provide better services to industry and the consumer. Their promotion and dissemination encourages the process of technology uptake. The 1997 Activity Report details the new projects and initiatives, illustrating the implementation of strategies to address these objectives. The report also documents case studies of projects implemented within the programme.
