In 1997 the Accion-Banco de Empleo HILD project was launched in Asturias, Spain. This project is financed by the EU's LEONARDO DA VINCI vocational training action programme and aims to apply new information technologies in careers services. The project has developed a telematic service, which provides services to companies, offering potential employees with qualifications gained through vocational training programmes and through professional training centres run by the regional public administration. The service is divided into several parts including: - An employment bank which has details of all the people who have been trained on the occupational training programme; - Employment offers - a service for the unemployed; - Training course offers; - Training and employment forum, targeted at social and expert mediators in the field. A study on "Searching for work on the Internet" has also been published within the framework of the project. This publication analysed the expectations, influences and consequences of the use of the Internet in the field of careers assistance.
