The call is for projects related to generic services and applications. Organizations or consortia are invited to submit proposals falling into the areas below, as defined in the 1998 TEN-TELECOM work programme. These proposals should include, as necessary, a feasibility study (commercial validation phase) and a market deployment phase (construction and start-up). Proposals should fall into one of the following sectors, which should be noted on the proposal: - TI 1: Trans-European telecommunications generic services; - TI 2.1: Trans-European telecommunications networks for education and training; - TI 2.2: Trans-European telecommunications networks for access to Europe's cultural heritage; - TI 2.3: Trans-European telecommunications applications and services for SMEs; - TI 2.4: Trans-European telecommunications networks for transport and mobility; - TI 2.5: Trans-European telecommunications networks for the environment and emergency management; - TI 2.6: Trans-European telecommunications networks for health; - TI 2.7: Trans-European city and regional information networks (as the integration of previous projects). Projects selected following this call will be funded in accordance with the trans-European networks (TENs) financial Regulation, which lays down general rules for the financing of all TENs projects. Funding may take the form of co-financing of studies, subsidies for loan interest, contributions towards loan guarantees or, in certain cases, direct grants. The indicative budget for this call is ECU 14 million to ECU 16 million. An Information Day relating to this call will be held in Brussels, Belgium, on 1 April 1998.
