The European Commission, DG XI, has published an invitation to tender for a study on the radiological impact of wastes containing natural radionuclides from the use and treatment of water. The objective of this study is to provide a summary of the processes, volumes, management systems, disposal and radiological impact associated with enhanced levels of natural radionuclides in wastes from water treatment in the EU. The study would also identify areas of concern and assess the need for future regulatory action, taking into account future developments. The study should be completed within six months. The budget for the contract has been estimated at ECU 40,000 to ECU 80,000.
