Wireless ad-hoc broadband monitoring system

Objective

The project's goal is the provision of broadband fixed wireless access, based on the Ad-Hoc model, i.e. with peer devices co-operating for building and maintaining a reliable and flexible network. This network allows for providing broadband services to rural and mountain regions, and could also be used as a complete monitoring system, i.e. a network of devices which obtain in real time physical and multimedia information about a geographic area.

This network allows one to obtain information such as sound, pictures, video, temperature, humidity, snow and wind. The software to manage the network and the whole system will be delivered with an Open Source license, in order to build a system with no license costs, and to keep low its price and cost of ownership. This network could also allow for managing territorial marketing, and for public safety, including emergency calls.
