Final Report - INART (Innovative laser based system and technologies for in-situ cleaning of painting artworks)
Datum Dokument: 2011-04-14
Dokumentenart: Project report
Zusammenfassung: INART was a European funded project within the Sixth Framework Programme (FP6) whose main objective was to develop specific technologies for controlled material removal from the surfaces of painted artworks of interest for cultural heritage conservation and restoration. The prototype developed integrated a laser source that transmits radiation to the artwork's surface through a mechanical device controlled by the end-user. The prototype also included diagnosis and monitoring tools for the control of the cleaning operation. Such a device is necessary due to the very sensitive nature of pigments, binding media and varnishes which require a precise and controllable cleaning tool. Moreover, cleaning methodologies for the most relevant problems in painted artworks were studied and integrated in a specific database.
