Type Details: The laboratory for Experimental Physiology is located at the Department of Biology and Ecology, Faculty of Science. It has area of approximately 100 m2, and has full equipment for standard hematological, biochemical, physiological and molecular analysis.
Work field in this laboratory is based on investigation of oxidative stress in biological systems, including animal, human and food model systems. Studies performed here are diverged in to two ways: biomedical and ecophysiological investigations. All investigations are included the next group of parameters:
1. Standard hematological and biochemical parameters in peripheral blood.
2. Oxidative-antioxidative status (levels of all reactive oxygen and nitrogen species; levels of non-enzymatic and activities of enzymatic components of antioxidative defence system; parameters of cells oxidative damage).
3. Energy metabolism (intensity of oxidative phosphorylation and glycolysis; concentrations of adenine nucleotides).
The professional staff, which is included in work of this laboratory, are: Dr Sne�ana D. Markovic, assistant professor of the field of Molecular biology and Physiology, Dr Branka I. Ognjanovic, assistant professor of the field of Animal Physiology, Nata�a Ðordevic and Miroslava Vukajlovic, postdoctoral students. The group has a big experience in the field of energy and prooxidative-antioxidative metabolism of biological systems, and published more than 50 scientific papers in extenso in international and national journals. The group was the member of the project of Ministry of Science of Republic Serbia, since 1996, until now and Tempus project (JEP-40053-2005).
