Type Details: Academic Network of Serbia (AMRES) is the national research and education network of Serbia, offering to it's users modern information-communication services and Internet connection. AMRES is the most significant scientific and research and educational resource and carrier of the Information Society development in Serbia, it's considered to be the most advanced network in our country with over 150 connected institutes and more than 100.000 active users.
AMRES infrastructure presents a scientific research and education network of Serbia in the functional and technical sense, together with its external links (Internet, GEANT, other providers etc.) AMRES is a non-profit association of scientific-research and educational organisations - network that enables modern ICT to its users.
Mission of AMRES is to ensure modern services and technical support in the area of ICT to the widest scientific-research and education community for the purpose of facilitating the scientific-research and education works.
Realization of the mission, AMRES is implemented in following areas of action:
- reinstating AMRES with a stable organisational structure
- strategic planning, testing, implementation and maintainence of modern ICTs, applied infrastructures and services (e-learning, GRID etc.)
- realising technical preconditions for cooperation of researchers and institutions on a national and international level
- integration into the European Research Area (ERA)
- preparation for the information society (e-Society, e-Government, e-Health, itd.)
AMRES service centres are computing centres of Universities in Belgrade, Novi Sad, Nis and Kragujevac:
RCUB - Belgrade University Computing Centre
RCUB already took a part in a several very successful projects under the FP, such were SEEREN and SEEREN2, SEEGRID and SEEGRID2, SEELight. In present, RCUB is a partner in the FP7 project - SEEGRIDSCI.
