Type Details: Our expertise is the design of packet switches and Internet routers. We focus on the scalable architectures with the deterministic and proven performance. In particular, we proposed non-blocking scalable Internet routers. We designed the controller for the scalable non-blocking Internet router in the FPGA devices. We also proposed a scalable non-blocking Internet router that supports multicasting, and have the initial design implemented on the FPGA devices. Our implementations were sufficiently fast, and confirmed the scalability of the proposed designs.
Our principal investigator, Aleksandra Smiljanic, got Ph.D. at Princeton University in USA, and worked for AT&T Labs Research for five years. She is the author of numerous conference and journal papers in the networking area. Two of her papers in the described area were awarded as the best papers in IEEE conferences. She is an inventor of seven US patents, and two US patent applications as well.
We are interested to continue our work on the Internet router design. We would like to integrate our FPGA implementations with the network processors that handles
packets arriving to the Internet router, and with the switching fabric. We would be glad to continue this activity within the EU funded project.
