The Institute for Prospective Technological Studies (IPTS) of the European Commission's Joint Research Centre (JRC) has published a call for tenders for a study on knowledge economy, economic transformations and information and communication technologies (ICT) in the EU25+. The main aim of the study is to give a better understanding of the nature and dynamics of the economic transformations that are expected to affect the European economy during the coming decades, and in particular how they relate to two major trends: the deployment of ICT and the globalisation of the economy. The study will focus on a sample of European regional case studies and investigate the economic transformations that are occurring in their economies, and in their relation with the rest of the world, via technology-enabled change. The study will look at the emergence of new structures and organisation of economic activities related to ICT use, as well as at the transformation of existing ones. In particular, it will put special emphasis on the changing nature of interactions (spillovers) between economic agents and the influence of ICT in the changing nature of these interactions. The study will finally draw policy implications and discuss possible venues for future research. For further information, please contact: European Commission Directorate-General Joint Research Centre IPTS Attn: Ms Mercè Batet-Alcon Edificio Expo, c/Inca Gracilaso E-41092 Seville Tel.: +34-95- 448-83-91 Fax: +34-95- 448-83-00 E-mail: JRC-TendersIPTS@cec.eu.int
