A conference entitled 'The electronic re-evolution - news media in the digital age' will take place from 7 to 9 August 2012 in Mikkeli, Finland.
The internet has led to a significant change in business models and ways of working for the news media. Significant shifts in viewer and reader tastes have meant both challenges and opportunities.
The event will cover a number of topics, including:
- new user behaviour;
- new business models;
- crowd-sourcing cultural heritage;
- indexing historical records;
- multilingual user interfaces;
- licensing and digital libraries;
- legal deposit of newspaper;
- research as a strategic tool.
There will also be a session on the the Comellus project, which is designed to create new techniques for electronic archiving and development of processes related to the microfilming and availability of newspapers in digital form.
