'Using research to inform medical practice', Nicosia, Cyprus

[Date: 2012-07-17]

An event entitled 'Using research to inform medical practice' will take place from 5 to 7 September 2012 in Nicosia, Cyprus.

Storage of public health data shares the same management issues as other industries. Due to the complexity and variability of public health data, modelling presents a particular challenge. The workshop will introduce attendees to some of the principles of biostatistics and study design in health research.

The term "biostatistics" actually encompasses two fields of study. The bio part involves biology, the study of living things whereas the statistics part involves the accumulation, tracking, analysis, and application of data. Biostatistics is the use of statistics procedures and analysis in the study and practice of biology. As such, it has many real-world and scientific applications.

The event will bring together administrators, academia, and public organisations involved in the design, implementation, supervision, monitoring and evaluation of health research in Cyprus and neighbouring countries.
